Caren

Nairobi, Kenya

Caren became introduced to the Advocacy Project through the Kenya Woman’s World Quilt in 2019, where she depicted a woman having her house broken into by a man. Since then, she has been an integral part of AP’s quilting projects in Nairobi. She helped coordinate the Kenyan Covid Quilt on the Kangemi side and helped manage Sister Artists Kenya. As part of Sister Artists Kenya, Caren embroidered an eagle and crocodile, which was turned into a beautiful quilt by Juandamarie in New Jersey. Outside of quilting, Caren spearheaded the Vaccination campaign in Nairobi and her group of “Heroes of Kangemi” helped encourage over 1,200 people to get vaccinated.
