Everline Makungu

Kangemi, Kenya

Everline is a single mother with one child who lives in the informal settlement of Kangemi, Nairobi and also cares for two ageing parents. Everline learned embroidery while making a block for the Kenyan COVID Quilts project in which she described how the pandemic had forced her to stop washing clothes, her only source of income. She is passionate about embroidery which has helped her to learn a new skill and even find work. In July Everline was thrilled to receive a first commission to embroider clothes.
