Irene Okome is 29 years old. In 2012, she moved to Nairobi for college. Unfortunately, Irene had to drop out of school due to lack of fees. Now, Irene has three daughters and is currently training to be a hairdresser. Irene learned how to do embroidery for the Women’s World quilt in 2019. She is now an active member of Shield of Faith, an organization focused on empowering women in the informal settlements.  Irene shared that her favorite part of embroidery is when the group comes together and chats about their shared experiences.
